OK, so I'm a little late with my goals. (At least I have some goals!) Anyway, my major crafting goal for 2011 is to knit and/or crochet 365 items to be donated to The Common Thread Circle here in Houston. This is a charity group that donates handcrafted items to the various hospitals in the greater-Houston area. I've been working with them since last spring.
So here's my latest tally:
January - needed 31 items; donated 10
February - needed 28 items plus the 21 I didn't make in January (a total of 49 items; donated 57
Woo hoo! As of February 28th, I was ahead of the game by 8 items! And this doesn't include the hats I made for my mom and myself when it was soooooo cold here in January! At some point I will break down and buy another camera and get some pictures posted here also.
On a personal crafting note, today I cast on 308 stitches in Lion Brand's Wool-Ease in Black Sprinkles for a "Ripple Scarf" for myself. The pattern is by Beth Walker-O'Brien and can be found in Simple 1-2-3 Knitting from Publications International Ltd. It's a simple "fan and feather" lace pattern and despite the horrendous number of cast on stitches, it's quite easy to memorize and execute. I've already completed 9 rows this evening! (There are 19 more plus and cast off row still to be done.) I'm hoping I'll get this scarf completed by this weekend.
